BoyChild snapped this as we got to town.
Gosh, that wind was cutting us right through to the bone when we got there! We did have a nice lunch at Puckett's Downtown location (great bbq). Then we headed down to the main drag - Lower Broad - to shop and sightsee. We couldn't really just walk around and enjoy the great outdoors because of the cold and the wind. We went in a lot of souvenir shops to try and keep warm.

Finally about 3pm we decided we were as cold as we could stand so we headed to our rooms. We stopped by Publix on our way to our rooms to pick up a snack tray - the house concert is also a covered dish / appetizer / snack event as well.
We checked into our rooms, relaxed and warmed up a bit, then got ready to go to the concert.
The 'main event' was to take place from 9pm to 11pm and featured three of Nashville's finest writers, Thom Shepherd, David Lee, and Wynn Varble. From 6pm to 9pm was mix, mingle, eat and listen to several groups of up and coming songwriters in an open mic forum.
There was quite a bit of talent in the open mic portion of the program, including our friend David Seger. He and his wife Kathy moved from Knoxville to Nashville a couple of years ago so David could concentrate more on his songwriting.
After the open mic was over, the featured writers settled in and we were treated to the original versions of songs such as 'Redneck Yacht Club', 'Riding With Private Malone', 'Letters From Home', 'Lucky Man', 'Waiting On A Woman', 'Sounds Like Life To Me', 'Little More Country Than That', and many many more hit song by a variety of artists.
About a half hour into the program, Thom was telling that he'd been to Fort Campbell earlier in the day to play for the families who were awaiting the arrival of the plane bringing their family members home from Afghanistan that morning. At time time he singled BoyChild out, announced that he had recently returned from Iraq, and dedicated 'Riding With Private Malone' to him.

I did not however video the whole song. You can listen to it on Thom's Reverbnation page. The song was a hit for David Ball.
Later in the evening David Lee dedicated 'Letters From Home' to him. I did not get this on video, but still it was nice for him to be recognized and honored. 'Letters From Home' was recorded by John Michael Montgomery.
After the evening was over, we got pictures of Thom, David, and Wynn with Justin and his g/f Ashley.
These three men are all great songwriters, and all around good guys. Thom has been on several tours overseas entertaining our troops, in Iraq, Afghanistan, Djibouti, South Africa and other countries.
In fact, Thom is doing another show this Wednesday night that benefits our veterans through an organization called 'Not Alone'.
Sunday morning, we slept in (til about 8am) then went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast, then headed home. I'm still trying to figure out why the youngsters were having so much trouble staying awake. They both slept over half the way home. I guess kids these days just aren't as tough as we are, LOL.

Then .... this afternoon Thom sent out his newletter update about two shows coming up this week, and included the pic from Saturday night in his newsletter!
