Not Fair!!

Growing up (especially the "tween" years) BabyGurl's favorite two words were "not fair!"

Today I am shouting "not fair!!"

  I am at work.

BoyChild, DIL, BabyGurl, SIL are all ..........

Forever Natty .....

As I mentioned in this post a couple of weeks ago, we lost our sweet Natty.

BoyChild had her cremated, and yesterday he received her remains.

Coincidence? Or Grandma's Intuition?

Right about the time BoyChild and DIL announced that they were expecting, I saw a quilt pattern I wanted to try.

It's been LONG time since I quilted (and even then only one small quilt and a couple of tote bags).

But I saw a blog about a bubble quilt and thought I'd give it a whirl.  I looked up a couple quick tutorials on YouTube and headed out to WalMart for supplies.

I wanted cute/pretty, but I also wanted cheap.  This fabric fit the bill pretty well.

And wouldn't you know it, just this week we found out it's going to be a girl!

I still have a couple more rows to go, then I have to figure out what I want to use for a backing.  I'm thinking a very (very) lightweight felt if I can find a complementary color.

I may have to pick up a new sewing machine soon too.  My thirty-some-odd year old Kenmore has about had it.

Getting Ready For Baby ...

Found this at our local thrift store yesterday.

I texted the pic to BoyChild and DIL and told them she can go ahead and have the baby now, I am ready.  However, Baby wont be ready for almost six more months!  How am I ever going to wait that long?

The bassinet is in good shape and is sturdy.  The cover/drape/whatever is a little musty and yellow.  I am going to give it a good washing and see what happens.  If it cleans up good I will just use the white, but if it doesnt come good and clean (or draws up or comes apart or is otherwise renedered unusable) I will make a new cover.

Hopefully sometime around the first or second week of March I will know whether to make the new cover / accessories blue or pink!

You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet .....

You think I post a lot of pics now?

BoyChild announced this weekend that I will be Grandma in (best guess) late July.

Yep, I'm headed to the consignment store soon to start building the nursery.

Although, thanks to The Gabster, I have a head start. ;-)

I've been trying to come up with a cool Grandma name. Although if Gab has any say in it, he/she will just call me Aunt Pa.

Down On The Farm ...

BEEF!

It's what's gonna be for dinner in a few weeks/months.

BoyChild and a few of his buddies have invested in these fellas.

They are on BoyChild's new farm and the costs are beng split 8 ways. Come 'harvest' time  they'll all have a quarter of beef to put in the freezer.

Oh, and tomorrow he pickup the pig he had slaughtered.

He'll be eating high on the hog!
(Pun intended)

A Place of Their Own ...

BoyChild and DIL closed on their land purchase today.  They'll be loading up the camper (yes, they've been living in a camper for over a year) and moving to the old (uhm, new) homestead in the next week or so.  For now we refer to it as "The Farm".  He's still thinking of a good name to hang over the gate.

The couple they bought it from had used it as a getaway place to take the grandkids and have room to run and ride bikes and kick up their heels.  20 acres, mostly fenced.

This 'barn' is actually a pretty nice little 'house'.  It's wired and plumbed.  It's all one room except a small partitioned bathroom.  Even has a stove in it!  They will be living pretty large after living in the camper!

Bonus!

This was left behind at BoyChild's new place.  Looked pretty sad til I got it home and scrubbed it with soap and clorox. I'm excited for Gabbie to see it next week when she comes to play!

Random ...

A few things I haven't blogged ....
but decided to do a 'pic only' blog of.

I mean, after all, a picture is worth a thousand words right?

Auditioning for American Idol ....

Bedtime story ... Miss Spider's Tea Party

Bedtime snack ...

Mater Girl ...

I dont' know, unless she is just trying to make
sure the baby is looking at the camera!

Cuteness, to the nth degree!

No, you can NOT have a bite of my Little Debbie Oatmeal Pie!

To cool for words!

Oh yeah, girl does love her spaghetti!

Some serious eating!

Giving Natty some good night sugar.

Fixing her hair for before day care.

Christmas Eve Eve ...

We usually do our Christmas stuff on Christmas Eve because my kids do Christmas with their dad's family on Christmas Day.  This year BabyBrother (firefighter) has to work Christmas Eve so we did our Christmas stuff at my parents' today.  (BabyBrother swapped a lot of shifts to get Christmas off when his kids were little so now he works it every year to let the one that have little kids now be off).

And BabyGurl had to go in at 3:00 today, so we had an early lunch (about 11:30)

So here's how things went today .....

Gabbie is the only little kid now, and she just goes with the flow.  Next year she will really 'understand' and be 'in control' of how and when we do things for Christmas.

So Ma and Pa were gonna let everyone open gifts before eating lunch and the four grandkids all hollered (jovially) "Nooooooooooooooooooooooo, when we were little we always had to eat first and the grownups would go back for seconds to torture us!"

So we ate.  Six of us could get at the table, and a few went to the living room.  Somehow this is where BoyChild ended up.  We teased him .... a lot!

It seemed only fitting though since he was the biggest protester about eating first instead of doing gifts first.

We mostly dont do gifts except for Gabbie, and of course I do for my kids and BabyBrother does for his kids and my Mom and Dad do (cash) for all of us.  But the adults dont exchange gifts amongst themselves.

So here are a few pics of the 'after lunch' activities.  As you will see, they are mostly of Gabbie.  BoyChild and DIL did bring one each of their gifts to give each other b/c one of the things I was giving DIL went with her gift BoyChild was giving her, so she needed the 'big' gift from him before getting my accessories.

Ok, let's get this show on the road.

Look Mom!  New boots!
(And no, Aunt Paula did not get these, her Pop and her Uncle Hudu did)

PawPaw, let me help you, I am really good at this!

Pics of the wedding.

Oh, another one for me? :-)

A puzzle from BabyGurl

Ok, that's nice, any more over there for me?

A book and a drawing board.  I like it!

Mommy, you can play with it while I go look for more presents!

Here, let me help you with that.  You're obviously not
as experienced as I am, you're doing it too slow!

A few other random shots from the day:

She changed her fuzzy slippers for my sparkly flip flops.
(The girl has taste!)

Smiling (yes that is a smile!)

She loves to talk on the phone.  BoyChild called her from his cell phone, sitting in the chair next to her. When we asked who she was talking to, she just turned and pointed at him.
(Ok, it was kind of a 'you had to be there' moment, but it was really funny).

I kinda made out like a bandit this year too.

From BoyChild and DIL.
(I had to put it together after I got home)

I told them they can get me something to go in it for my birthday!

BabyGurl made me this mirror
(It is VERY hard to photograph a mirror!)

BabyGurl and her b/f got me this.
(I'll be the envy of the office!)

So our Christmas is all done now except for Gabbie's Santa stuff Sunday morning.

I'll update you (and inundate you with more pics) after that!

MERRY CHRISTMAS !!!

Let's Ride!

Three, going on fifteen!

Yesterday went down to BoyChild and DIL's and hung out for a while with DIL's family.  A family which includes an 8yr old boy, 10yr old girl, and 13yr old boy.  All on motorbikes.

Missy Prissy was just as big as they were yesterday.

Girl does love her some BBQ
(and this is just at the beginning of lunch!)
