Serious Heat ....

I love a good fire.  Even when there is work involved.

Did a lot of cleaning up, mowing, and burning today.  Haven't done the burning in a couple of years.  It needs to be done twice a year.  Five acres produces a lot of fallen limbs.   So even after a full day of it, I'm not nearly caught up.

So now I'm just gonna sit and admire it (and read a book) while I wait on it to burn down enough so I can take a bath (or two! whew!) and go to bed.

Grease Fire ....

My niece was cooking chicken nuggets (at BabyBrother's house) when the grease caught on fire.  Everyone is fine (she was the only one home and immediately called 911 and went outside) and the structural damage is contained to the kitchen, mostly the stove area and upper cabinets.  But the whole house stinks.

Got in touch with the insurance co.  Of course they won't have an adjuster out til Monday, but our local guy said if we have to do anything to it over the weekend to make it safe or livable just keep receipts.

Other than airing it out, and doing what might be necessary to get the electricity back on, it will be livable til the insurance company can get a contractor on it.

Main thing .... nobody got hurt.

FIRE!!!!

I think I might have mentioned my pyromaniacal tendencies before.
Thankfully I am able to disguise it, at least a little, by calling it yardwork.

Whew! Busy Weekend ....

I'm exhausted!  But in a good way.

Yesterday I dragged and burned limbs all afternoon.  With the lovely weather though, and the fact that I love a good fire, it wasn't really what I could call hard work.  More like productive/therapeutic exercise.

And the yard looks better too.  Although I have enough limbs left for another afternoon (or two) of burning.  I don't know why my trees don't all look like telephone poles as many limbs as they lose every year.

I do have one really huge one that BabyBrother is gonna have to attack with the chainsaw to get it to a manageable size so we can burn it.  There's enough in that one limb for a whole day's burning.  Might have to plan dinner outdoors and relaxing by the fire well into the evening that day.

And then .... this afternoon I finally gave Red a much deserved bath.  She's hasn't had one all winter and she was looking pretty bad.  It was getting hard to tell exactly what color she really was.  I live on a chert road.  (That gravel you see is only in my driveway, not the whole road!)

Of course, it's supposed to rain tomorrow night, but she'll look good for a day or two at least. :-)
